ANGAU Pathology configured on MOANA LIS from specimen receipt to result dispatch

The Pathology department at ANGAU Memorial Provincial Hospital is mapped and configured on MOANA LIS, with go live at ANGAU expected in the coming weeks.
The department was mapped in full, from specimen receipt to result dispatch. The mapping confirmed that its requirements are met by existing MOANA LIS functionality.
Scope configured
The configuration covers the full test catalogue across haematology, serology, microbiology and biochemistry. It includes specimen handling, result pathways, quality control and send out testing to referral laboratories.

Instrument integration
Laboratory instruments connect through standard laboratory interfacing. Orders are sent electronically to the bench, and results return to the LIS, where reports are generated. Once laboratory staff have verified and dispatched a result, it is in the patient record and with the requesting clinician.
Closed loop results management
The configuration closes the loop between the clinician who orders a test and the scientist who releases the result. Quality control and verification are recorded at every step, so the laboratory holds a record of how each result was produced and released.
