Clinical research and trial recruitment, governed inside the clinical record.

MOANA Clinical Research finds eligible participants from routine care while protecting their identity. Researchers define inclusion and exclusion criteria and see live counts across facilities before any identity is revealed, then manage screening, consent and enrolment with every query and identity view audited.

Most trials struggle to recruit, and most patients who would be eligible are never asked.

For hospitals, research institutions, universities and ministries running studies.

The interface, as your teams will use it.

Every screen is the real Moana interface, shown with demonstration data.

What it does

Live counts before identities, and more.

  • Cohort builder

Inclusion and exclusion criteria with a live count of matching patients, before any identity is revealed.

  • Network feasibility

Eligible patient counts across facilities, so a trial can be planned before a site is chosen.

  • Recruitment pipeline

Each candidate from identified through screened and consented to enrolled.

  • Clinician trial alert

The treating doctor sees a possible trial match inside the patient record, at the point of care.

  • Consent register

Signed consent versions with witnesses, linked to the participant.

  • Exports and audit

Datasets with identifiers removed, released on investigator approval, and an audit log of every query and identity view.

  • Trials registry

Every protocol with its ethics approvals, study team, consent forms and enrolment against target.

  • Contact consent at registration

Reception asks once whether a patient may be contacted about research, and the answer is respected everywhere.

  • Screening log and sponsor reports

Every stage change with who and why, and feasibility reports for sponsors with counts only.

Overview

Find eligible patients without exposing who they are.

Most trials struggle to recruit, and most patients who would be eligible are never asked. The information needed to find them already exists in the clinical record, but it is rarely available to research teams in a form that is both useful and properly governed. MOANA Clinical Research makes routine care a governed foundation for research.

The cohort builder applies coded inclusion and exclusion criteria and returns a live count before any identity is shown. Network feasibility estimates eligible participants across facilities so a study can be planned before a site is chosen. Once approved, candidates move through a recruitment pipeline from identified to screened, consented and enrolled, with every stage change recorded with who made it and why.

Consent is captured by signature, on paper or by witnessed thumbprint against the approved form version. Reception records once whether a patient may be contacted about research, and that decision is respected everywhere. Treating doctors see a possible trial match in the patient chart and can refer in one step.

Exports remove identifiers and require investigator approval, and the audit log records every query and identity view for ethics review.

How it works

From protocol to enrolment.

  1. Register the trialProtocol, ethics approvals, study team, consent forms and enrolment target are recorded in the trials registry.
  2. Find the cohortCoded criteria return live counts across the network, without revealing identities.
  3. Screen and contactApproved staff screen candidates who have agreed to research contact.
  4. Consent and enrolConsent is recorded against the approved version and the participant is enrolled.
  5. Govern and reportExports without identifiers, sponsor feasibility reports and a complete audit trail.

Data flow

Facility, district, national.

Clinical Research reads from the same record clinicians already use, so the counts a research team sees reflect care as it is recorded.

  1. FacilityCare and consentReception records once whether a patient may be contacted about research, and treating doctors see possible trial matches in the patient chart.
  2. District and provinceCounts across facilitiesNetwork feasibility estimates eligible participants across facilities, counts only, so a study can be planned before a site is chosen.
  3. NationalGoverned researchHospitals, research institutions, universities and ministries see every protocol and enrolment against target, with a complete audit trail for ethics review.

Outcomes

What changes for your organisation.

  • Faster recruitment

Eligible patients are identified from routine care rather than manual chart review.

  • Privacy by design

Counts before identities, contact consent and approval gated exports.

  • Ethics ready audit

Every query, identity view and stage change is recorded.

  • Research at the point of care

Treating doctors see possible matches and refer in one step.

Standards and reporting

Coded and exchanged in open formats.

Criteria and exports use coded terminology, sponsors receive feasibility reports with counts only, and datasets leave the system only with identifiers removed and the investigator’s approval.

Deployment and governance

Research governance, built in.

Security and data ownership
  • A standalone system on the platform

Clinical Research sits on top of the Moana platform. There is no second database to keep in step.

  • Configured to each site

Each deployment is configured to the site’s own studies and governance.

  • Identities only for approved staff

Identities are revealed only to approved staff for patients who agreed to research contact.

  • Your data stays yours

The hospital or government that collects the data owns it. Hosting is agreed with each client.

Questions

Ask us something else

How does MOANA Clinical Research protect patient identity?

Researchers see counts before identities. Identities are revealed only to approved staff for patients who agreed to research contact, and exports remove identifiers.

Does MOANA Clinical Research include a trials registry?

Yes. Each protocol is recorded with its ethics approvals, study team, consent forms and enrolment against target.
