Moana is an integrated health information system of nine applications. Clinical care, diagnostics, medicines and hospital operations share one patient record and one coded data model, and national surveillance, supply and research systems read directly from it.

Why an integrated platform outperforms a collection of departmental systems.
Most health information systems grow one department at a time: a laboratory system here, a pharmacy system there, a separate tool for each national programme. Each works in isolation, and the patient’s story is split between them.
Moana takes the opposite approach. Every application is built on one clinical data model, one master patient index and one audit trail, so information captured anywhere is immediately available everywhere it is needed.
Clinical data is coded at the point of capture in ICD 10, ICD 11, SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm and UCUM, and exposed through a FHIR R4 API with SMART on FHIR app launch and FHIR bulk export. Laboratory analysers and instruments connect over ASTM and HL7, imaging over DICOM, and older systems through HL7 v2 conversion. National reporting flows to DHIS2, and the architecture follows OpenHIE patterns.
Facility service levels configure which features each site receives, role based access controls what each user can see and do, and every application is designed for unreliable connectivity as well as stable networks. The result is a platform that can be deployed for a single practice and extended, without migration, to an entire health system.
